Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The advent of high-throughput omics technologies has revolutionized biomedical research in the past decade. We are now able to generate genomic, epigenomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, metabolomic, and microbiomic data at unprecedented resolutions. Furthermore, new analytical approaches enable us to obtain a more comprehensive understanding of the biological systems and the molecular mechanisms of disease development and progression using these high-resolution omics data. In addition, the generation of multi-omics profiles may lead to the identification of novel and clinically useful biomarkers for disease prediction, progression, and therapy responses and may thus represent an essential tool toward achieving the promises of precision medicine. To reach this goal, challenges relating to the immense complexity of analyzing and integrating different layers of omics data must be overcome.
The suggested Special Issue of Biomedicines will consider original articles, commentaries, and review articles with a focus on (but not limited to) the following topics:

  • Using omics data to predict disease onset, progression, and therapy responses of monogenic and genetically complex diseases;
  • Integrating different layers in multidimensional omics approaches;
  • Descriptions of omics methodologies and new analytical approaches;
  • Descriptions of publicly available resources comprising (multi-)omics data (e.g., “cohort profiles”).

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Biomedicines is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2200 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
